A conservatorship is granted when a person can no longer care for themselves or manage their own affairs. It is a court proceeding in which a judge appoints a responsible person to care for another adult. The person giving care is called the conservator. The person receiving care is the known as the conservatee. The court can appoint a conservator of the person, or a conservator of the estate, or both, depending on the needs of the conservatee.
The decision to have a conservatorship appointed for a family member can be a tough and sensitive one. Golden Legacy is here to help you help your loved one.
